SKODA AUTO production line spanner with wireless torque data collection

Every car coming out from the Skoda Auto factory in Mlada Boleslav has a “manufacture book” containing all data about the production of the particular car. Even detailed data about torque on each operation need to be downloaded and stored.

Wired solution for this kind of application wouldn’t be effective and user-friendly. That’s why IQRF wireless transceivers where integrated in to the spanners to send out a signal that screws were tighten on the right torque.

Wireless torque sense

IQRF Solution

Thanks to the small dimensions IQRF transceivers are integrated directly in spanners without need of making them significantly bigger. Once a spanner reads that a screw was tighten on the right torque a signal is send out via IQRF transceiver. The signal is received by another IQRF transceiver and once all screws are correctly tighten green light goes on and an operator knows his operation is successfully completed.
